Since our first competition for the Tokyo International Membrane Competition in school times, we have been collaborating on various competitions and on some non-profit works outside office practice. These works of interest provide a channel for us to think independently, research on and explore different issues. This exploration is also a discovering and sharpening process for architectural design.
We like to create interest out of simplicity and an integrated whole. We find that this is best done through caring attention to the requirements and characters of the programmes, clients, users and sites to find out the individual projects’ meaning and potential. These meanings and potentials become a a rich source of ideas, to be developed and experimented, to arrive at a genuine identity for each particular project.
