HK Boundary Crossing Facilities
The Bar evidences the gateway into Hong Kong from Macau and Zhu Hoi. It is an architectural gesture that crystalizes the displaced border on this newly reclaimed island, to celebrate the birth of the new boundary facilities and the unity of the diverse cultures. From above, the bar glimmers and dissolves into nothingness, like a bar of solidified liquid floating above the reclaimed land.

The bar stretches to efficiently receive & guide passengers and vehicles along the whole frontage. It forms a dedicated staff connection to all facilities concerned, and regulates natural resources for human comfort and to give a joyful experience.

Approaching on land, the Bar is bold and straight. It extends out to encompass the passenger and vehicular boundary crossings, forming a direct and efficient boundary line.

The bold diamond sections give a powerful yet serene image. The diamond form is generated to gather and regulate natural resources for human comfort - south-facing PV panels to gather solar energy, and north-facing glazing and diffusers to introduce daylight. The Bar forms a new architecture-scape to the newly formed island and the boundary crossing facilities.
